Exhibits and Collections

The Seneca Iroquois Museum has a collection of both permanent and visiting exhibits.

Special Permanent Exhibits:

Partially reconstructed Longhouse - providing a realistic representation of life in a longhouse, which was the traditional home for the Iroquois people prior to the Revolutionary War.

Clan Animal Diorama - with interpretive guide to the clan system and its symbolism, and Clan Mother Portrait gallery

Kinzua Dam Exhibit - focusing on the controversial development of the Dam and the impact it had on over 600 Senecas who were forced into relocation.

Visiting Exhibits:

Visiting Exhibits - traveling exhibits from other Native American Museums are featured at the museum periodically.  See our Special Exhibits/Events Calendar for more information or call the Museum.

Living Artist Series:

Learn the traditional crafts and trades of The Seneca people and other Iroquois tribal members.  Demonstrations and workshops vary periodically and include everything from brain hide tanning to beadwork to lacrosse stick making, sculpture, painting and woodcarving.  The Series runs every Saturday from June – August.
